Dr. Aaron Hoo, MD, ND
Medical & Naturopathic Physician
Dr. Aaron Hoo is both a Medical Doctor and a Naturopathic Doctor – he has been in the health and wellness industry for almost two decades.
Dr. Hoo operated his own private practice as a Naturopathic Doctor for 11 years before returning to medical school in the Caribbean to complete his MD degree, and family medicine residency at the University of Manitoba. Prior to private practice, he was a graduate from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Dr. Hoo is unique in being the first and only dual licensed family physician in Canada – he is a licensed MD practicing as a family physician part-time in rural/remote Manitoba servicing the nursing station, community clinic, emergency department and hospital.
When not in Manitoba, he practices part-time in Vancouver, British Columbia, incorporating his naturopathic and conventional medical training in the integrated fashion of functional medicine with the goal of providing the best holistic and evidence-based care as a family physician.
Dr. Hoo has also served as a medical science liaison for one of North America’s leading nutraceutical organizations, travelling across the US, Canada, Mexico and SE Asia to provide educational lectures in clinical nutrition.
With an interest in addressing chronic illness and chronic pain, his approach to healthcare is simply to motivate his patients to take responsibility for their health and wellness through the alignment of mental, physical and spiritual well-being.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE: As a healthcare practitioner, I believe that personalized preventive care is of utmost importance in helping people achieve their health goals. My education and clinical experience in complementary and alternative medicine enables me to incorporate a patient-centered approach to medicine that is tailored to the unique needs of my patients. Since beliefs, attitudes, and motivations can contribute to overall wellness, I examine and include the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of my patients when proposing a tailored and individualized treatment plan. My devotion to good health is the basis and primary focus of my practice, along with the trust and confidence of my patients with whom I work in partnership for better health.
